The Heath Owens Band was birthed almost by fate, as Heath was home in his small town in Southern Idaho on summer break from ISU, where he was majoring in commercial music. Having just decided that he would no longer pursue football at ISU and would shift gears to pursue music solely, Heath was primed for a new revelation and vision of his
The Heath Owens Band was birthed almost by fate, as Heath was home in his small town in Southern Idaho on summer break from ISU, where he was majoring in commercial music. Having just decided that he would no longer pursue football at ISU and would shift gears to pursue music solely, Heath was primed for a new revelation and vision of his future. Deciding to plunge head first into music writing, singing and performing, Heath’s path took on a new purpose quickly.
Almost on a whim, the band came together all at once. Pulling together his brother, who was still a senior in high school, his hometown school band drummer, and an old man of only 30 years to pluck the bass, Heath and the local boys came together overnight and began to put together a sound that was hard to define. With deeply country roots, in a new era for country music (that has finally hit the evolutionary stage that rock has been organically forging for decades) the band began to bring together tunes that revealed their vast influences.

Heath comes from a classic country heritage, as the great grandson of Buck Owens.
In his performances and original songs, you will find the classic country influence(s) of artists such as Buck, Johnny and Merle; Southern rock influence(s) of Lynyrd Skynyrd and Rob Lienes; 90’s punk influences of bands like Green Day, Foo Fighters and Lit;

Drawing from such vast influences, Heath Owens is writing songs that offer as much variety as your favorite creamery. It’s all country, but his songs each distinctly differ from one another, all while possessing a certain tangible country feel. What makes his songs unique and different from the mainstream, is that his lyrics have the soulful hum of a uniquely American life and upbringing without relegating the lines to the traditional themes of radio play country music. All the while somehow not falling headfirst into the Americana bucket.
If I had to classify their genre, I would say it’s alt-country or roots rock; but truly, it seems they are gaining a reputation of becoming
"your new favorite alt-country, southern rock, punk band" with fans and venues all over.

Heath has opened for: Morgan Wade, Kenny Feidler, Pecos and the Rooftops, Rob Leines, Huser Bros., and Eli Howard and The Greater Good. He has played The Buck Owens' Crystal Palace, Hwy 30 Music Festival, The Heritage Social Club and other venues all over.
